Thought Spectrum : << Brief Report >> On a lecture By Prof. Jata Shankar Tripathi on"Practical Ethics" held on January 10, 2020
A Nehruvian dream: NGBDU was conceived by the 1st Prime Minister of India, Late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who laid the foundation stone of the Deemed to be University on July 26th 1962 in the village Dubawal a part of his Parliamentary Constituency Phulpur. Pt. Nehru's dream was transformed into reality by Shri J. N. Mishra, a former bureaucrat turned social thinker and philanthropist, who had the vision and dedication for upliftment of rural masses through education.
"Universities have become so well espoused to set of conjectures that are of interim and temporary rather than global cogency, that universities are less proficient than they should be to contribute the radical, transformative and innovative ideas that the present circumstances need. it is thus an innate responsibility of Universities to ensure that such lacunas are expeditiously identified and adequately bridged. NGBDU has thus taken upon itself the responsibility of identifying and bridging such lacunae and Thought Spectrum is one such initiative in that very direction".-J. N. Misra, Chancellor, Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University)
"Thought Spectrum under the aegis of NGBDU aims to play a proactive, socially productive and sustainable role in the field of rural development through collaborations at national and international levels and developing pragmatic and innovative models of rural development". -Smita Mishra, Convener, Thought Spectrum
It's mission aims to produce knowledge that stimulates a better understanding of national and global problems. It aims to develop a community of academicians, scholars, researchers, administrators and publically engaged individuals committed to advancing insight and debate in the avenues encompassing science and technology, medicine, social sciences, humanities, history, art & culture etc. As a community the endeavour also seeks to enrich policy debates, deliberations and discourses at the local and international levels.
Thought Spectrum proposes to present a new vision with a judicious blend of Indian ethos, culture and modernity for comprehensive and equitable rural development. It will also be its endeavour to develop human resource for the economic and social development of rural population, and pursue the development and dissemination of rural technology. It is also an inherent part of core agenda of this initiative to identify the contours of rural-urban disparity, particularly in terms of education attainment, occupation choices, consumption and wages, and foster discourse on policy and other under-lying factors responsible for the creation and existence of the identified disparity.
It will also be an intrinsic element of academic and co-curricular value addition to NGBDU Research Scholars and students, who will have the opportunity of being a part of the endeavour as participant and audience and in process be exposed to range of eminent, collaborative deliberations, discourses and discussions encompassing varied and pertinent issues.

Open Discussion "Heritage of Allahabad, from past to present" on 26, September 2017 <A Report>
The primary objective of this symposium was to debate and understand the impact of social media on rural populace and its affect on rural psyche particularly the rural youth. The issue assumes significance particularly in light of the mushrooming of social media vehicles and platforms. The elements of responsibility associated with platform providers formed the crux of the deliberation.
This debate within psychology focused upon the extent to which particular aspects of behavior are a product of either inherited (i.e. genetic) or acquired (i.e. learned) characteristics. Nature pertains to traits that are inherited/genetic, while nurture is concerned with all environmental influences after conception, i.e. experience. Prof (Dr) D. N. Dwivedi, Ex-Professor, Department of Philosophy, University of Allahabad was the key note speaker.
